What’s in a name?

So, why was Agapé Café of Life chosen for a name?

Café of Life- Two of my volleyball friends introduced me to a philosophy group during my third trimester of chiropractic college.  The ideas and philosophy discussed were intriguing and resonated truth within the core of my being.  It truly aided in my growth as not only a chiropractor, but as a human being.  It was there I was introduced to the Café of Life.  According to the developer of the Café of Life model, Arno Burnier, “Ultimately, it (the Café) is based on trust in life; trust in one self and belief in the self-determination, self-responsibility, and self-accountability of the human spirit.”

Agapé - I was reading the novel The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho and I came across the word agapé.  I didn’t know the exact meaning so I looked it up.  Broken down into "a-gape" it basically means to be wide open.  The religious meaning of the word relates to the unconditional love of God.  I had an ah hah moment…there is no better way that could describe the way I would love to serve others….with a wide open heart, full of pure unconditional love.
